Bladder Infections are common in women. They are even more common in women with medical conditions like Diabetes , Multiple Sclerosis, and/or wheelchair users. It is serious business because of the possibility of recurrences. The antibiotic of choice is Ciproflaxacin (Cipro)as discussed in our previous post
Cipro is effective but, being of the Fluoroquinolone family, has longer toxicity and looses some effectiveness with repeated use.
The Ivanhoe site has a post on a study comparing the success rate of Cefpodoxime, another antibiotic, with Cipro:
The news is not good for a new alternative antibiotic : Cipro is still substantially more effective.
Better luck next time…
